Six RMCAD activities that will get you exploring the beautiful state of Colorado

Whether it’s the nearly 300 days of sunshine, the endless hiking trails, the world class ski resorts, or the state’s famous natural attractions, Colorado has become one of the most sought after places to live in the U.S. At RMCAD, we love welcoming students to our beautiful state and introducing them to fun, unique excursions as part of our Explore Colorado program.

Regardless if you are starting your first semester at RMCAD, your last semester or consider yourself a Colorado native, we welcome all students to join these fun-filled activities. Check out what’s on the calendar for the 2022-2023 school year and register today!

Meow Wolf – Friday, September 9, 2022 @ 6:30 p.m. MST
Meow Wolf Convergence Station opened its doors in Denver in 2021 and since has made its name as a must-visit attraction in the area. No words can truly describe this out-of-this-world destination, but prepare yourself for an explosion of imagination, color and creativity. Did we mention, four RMCAD professors are also featured at the interactive museum? You don’t want to miss this sensational Friday night art adventure.

Dracula – Saturday, October 8, 2022 @ 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. MST
To get in the Halloween spirit, we recommend attending Dracula with friends and classmates at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. This night at the theater is a perfect opportunity to check off the Denver Center for the Performing Arts on your bucket list! Whether you are familiar with the plot of this classic vampire, gothic love story or not, it’s a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience with several creative sets, special events and an original score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

Stanley Hotel Night Tour – Monday, October 24, 2022 @ 5:00 – 10:30 p.m. MST
If you love history and don’t mind scary stories, the world famous Stanley Hotel Night Tour is an experience you don’t want to miss. The hotel was the inspiration behind Steven King’s novel The Shining – and once you visit, you’ll understand why. Grab your friends for a spooky trip to Estes Park and make a note to visit Room #407 to meet one of the hotel’s friendly ghosts!

Colorado Avalanche – Saturday, November 12, 2022 @ 6:00 p.m. MST
Colorado’s professional hockey team achieved the ultimate title of Stanley Cup champions this past year, which makes this game a must-attend event for students. Ball Arena isn’t just home to the Avs, it also hosts games for the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Mammoth and several big name concerts. Be sure to check back in on RMCAD’s Explore Colorado page, as the date/time of this event is subject to change based on the 2022-2023 season.

Denver Zoo Lights – Saturday, December 10, 2022 @ 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. MST
What’s a holiday season without some lights? Denver Zoo Lights has more than two million LED lights across 80 acres. Not only can you soak up the holiday spirit, but you may just run into a few unexpected animal encounters along the way! For more information on new festive attractions offered for the 2022 holiday season, follow along at the Denver Zoo.

Ski + Board at Loveland – Saturday, January 28, 2023 @ 7:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. MST
Whether this is your first winter in Colorado or your tenth, you can’t miss at least one day out on the slopes. One of our favorite traditions at RMCAD is to head into the Rocky Mountains and ski or snowboard as a student body at Loveland Ski Area. Lift tickets and lunch will be provided, so plan to rent at the mountain or bring your own gear.

We hope you are just as excited as we are to attend these six must-visit Colorado destinations! The program includes tickets and admission to all events as well as a meal or snack. Students must pay in full for all six events by Wednesday, August 31, 2022, or you can register for individual events up to one day prior. For more information, please contact studentactivities@rmcad.edu.
