Over the course of his career, Dave Collins has worked in a variety of artistic areas, including portraiture, figure, still life, and landscape painting, as well as animal art. He has also worked in advertising, book illustration, toy design, and commercial art for resorts in Colorado, Las Vegas, and Florida. He lives with his wife, Heather, and their two Chihuahuas in Lakewood, Colorado.
Dave studied at the New York Academy of Art in New York City, where he earned an MFA in Painting, and the University of Colorado at Denver, where he earned Bachelor degrees in Art History and Creative Arts-Painting. He has also studied at the Art Students League of Denver, and taken courses in the Osteology of Animals and Paleontology at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. As an educator, Dave specializes in figure and landscape painting, as well as human and animal anatomy drawing.

He exhibits with the Art Students League of Denver, the Colorado Alliance of Illustrators, and in the past has shown work at Gallery 824 in the Santa Fe Art District of Denver, and various other galleries in Denver, Evergreen, CO, and New York City.
