Larry Kresek, MFA

Before RMCAD, Larry Kresek was the first chair for the illustration department at the Ringling School of Art and Design. In addition to teaching, Kresek has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1970. From his early days in New York City, where he created paperback covers for Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick, Spider and Jeanne Robinson, and Ray Bradbury to working for such publishers as Dell, Fawcett, Ballentine, Warner, Doubleday, and DAW Books. Moreover, he has created movie posters, record albums, national ads, and pharmaceutical illustrations. His editorial illustrations have won local, regional, and national awards—most notably in Print Magazine’s New York Regional competition. Kresek has been a judge, speaker, exhibitor, and adviser to the education committee at the New York Society of Illustrators. Recently he worked as a production artist on the award winning animated film, The Book of Life.
