Mung Lar Lam is an Artist, Historian and Educator with a multi-disciplinary background in Fashion Design, Global Sourcing/Product Development, Textiles, Fine Art and Economic and Social History. She possesses 20 years of combined industry experience as a women’s wear Designer in New York and Paris, and in executive management for global retail brands such as Gap Inc.
Her teaching career spans over 10 years in Fashion Design, Textiles, and Fashion Marketing and Management programs. Prior to RMCAD, Lam was Assistant Professor and Program Director at Parsons School of Fashion in New York City for the AAS programs in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing. Concurrent with teaching, she also maintains a studio art practice and has shown in galleries and museums internationally.
Lam earned undergraduate degrees in Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Textiles at SF State University, a Masters degree in Fine Art from California College of the Arts and an MPhil in Economic and Social History from The University of Cambridge. Her continued academic research focuses on previously undocumented women’s occupational labor in the textiles industry during the Industrial Revolution.
